STRESS
I don't know how many times during this past week I've wished I were invisible or that I had a secret passageway out of my house. It seemed that every time I opened the door either to enter or leave the building there was a neighbour, who also happens to be the president of the building and I, unfortunately, am the vice-president and all-round gofer, waiting to pounce. If it wasn't to help her go through some old papers or to complain about this or that, it was to tell me the neighbours on the second floor had got locked out and were trying to open the door with a credit card. What makes things worse is that she owns two flats (apartments) and both offer excellent views of everything. Sometimes I think I could climb out the window as I live on the ground floor, but, with my luck, she'd be in her flat upstairs, hanging out the window, and catch me.When we're in her flat on the ground floor, every time someone enters the building she gets up and looks out the peep hole to see who it is. I know we all have our faults and vices, but I hate being controlled and I sure crave some privacy. At one time we were considering installing cameras in the building because we had a spate of vandalism, and, although we knew who the culprit was, no one actually caught him at it. Next Saturday we're having an urgent meeting of the flat owners. I could bore you with the details but I won't or at least not yet.
THE REST
We've had a pleasantly cool week here. This past August was much hotter than last year's. As this is my first September staying in Madrid for a long, long time, I can't really say, but I imagine being this cool is abnormal. On Thursday afternoon when I was going to an organic supermarket to get my dog some biscuits, I could hardly walk because the wind was so strong. Then we had some nice rain yesterday morning just as I was getting ready to take the dog out, and naturally had to wait until it stopped because the little madam doesn't like rain. I think the cool weather is my fault, because I had my hair cut short on Thursday. If I want to change the weather, I have my hair cut.
INTERRUPTION
Can you believe she (the president) has come down, plunger in hand (guess she was cleaning the toilet), to tell me there were some papers that she forgot to show me. Upstairs I go again.
THE END (I hope)
The Post Secret visitor counter is working this week; I'm number 179,335,364. I had to pinch one for later use. It's one which I almost could have written. Hope everybody has a good week without too much stress. If you'd like some, my neighbour sure can arrange it.
Hope you have a relaxing and peaceful day.
ReplyDeleteOh poor you...........................are you sure she is not related to a couple of ladies i have the pleasure of working with?? they certainly seem to share some characteristics. I think you should hide...........would a disguise help?? dark glasses and a wig maybe

ReplyDeleteBRENDA I AM SO SORRY BOUT THAT.IT WOULDN'T POST AN I JUST KEPT HITTING SUBMIT. I THOUGHT IT WAS MY PUTER SO I COPIED AN LEFT TO RUN ANTI SPY CAME BACK AN SAW WHAT I HAD DONE..
ReplyDeleteSounds like your week was tough. You know, snoops like that sometimes make me kick into "let's give 'em something to talk about" mode. Hope it smooths out!
ReplyDeleteThat's okay, Deb. You were probably in the middle of posting when Multiply went down for maintenance (yet again).
ReplyDeleteSometimes I do have to put her in her place, especially when she criticises how I do documents. She's a crabby old thing whom nobody likes, not even her family of that I'm sure. I'm the only one who pays her any attention, and there I have my limits, my work and my life. As I've already stated, I don't like her constant control of everybody, but I bet you always get one of these types everywhere. And to top things off, this should be my month of holidays. I'm not sure if I can arrange some time off later on. Anyway, at this moment I'm safe because she's out visiting, but I know I'll hear about it very soon, so I'm going to try and do some ironing while I can. Thanks everybody for your messages.
BTW, does anybody view this theme on Internet Explorer? I noticed that the headers were messed up on IE, which doesn't really bother me. I try not to use IE.
Sounds like a royal pain in the butt. You must cringe constantly and that is a lousy way to exist. Course I might have used that plunger in her hand for something lol. Apparently she has nobody and nothing better to do. So sorry you have to live with the likes of this personality constantly in your face. I would be so tempted to give her some scare that would keep her at arms length. I hope you get some time off.
ReplyDeleteI use I.E. and the theme does go across some of the lines in your blog. I had that problem once before with a Christmas theme and I corrected it myself lol, imagine that? I can't remember what the fix was but it was simple, just a change in a number that put it higher up on the page.
Enjoy your Sunday best you can and hopefully she will stay out for a long time!
Hugs hun.
No such luck. She caught me in the middle of ironing. It's usually something that can wait like this time. While I'm complaining, the other day I was in the process of changing my clothes to go out when somebody started ringing my doorbell incessantly. I had to quickly throw on a robe and see what the matter was. I opened the door to you know who, and she said. 'Oh, I didn't thnk you were at home.' I really let her have it that time!
ReplyDeleteGood grief, you couldn't even out iron her! Some people just have to be hit over the head and hard! If she didn't think you were home was it the sound of your doorbell that she was enjoying? Oh I'd be madder than a hornet.
ReplyDeleteWhen I was married to my ex, we lived on the second floor of his parents home. Everytime I came into the porch to enter my doorway - BOOM, his mother would have to run to the door to tell me something, but it was always just nosiness. I tried to tiptoe, park further away, not let the car door slam, you name it. She always had her inner door open so she could hear me through the screen door. Nothing worked and I really began to dread going home. I understand what a pain it is to be deprived of your privacy and constantly feel like you're being watched and stalked and have someone banging on the door while you're in the shower or in the middle of a movie. Makes you just want to scream!
Perhaps you could resign as vice-president?
ReplyDeleteIt's bad enough you live in the same building with a busybody, but to have to work with her would be intolerable. Poor you!
it seems a shame you should consider resigning maybe you or one of your friends could go up against her at the next AGM for the position of President. Or at least you and the other committee members could get her voted off, if she is that bad you should be able to get support to get rid of her. No one should have to put up with that sort of behaviour from any one. Sometimes we find ourselves in a position where our colleagues or even our boss is obnoxious but this woman does not hold any real power, not like your boss would..... so maybe just consider getting rid of her.
ReplyDeletepoor you not at all nice to be so stressed out by this awful woman
PS...........re the theme, don't know what it should be but to me it just appears plain pale blue...
ReplyDeleteMy term is up very soon. I wasn't pleased (to put it mildly) at being re-elected. In my block of flats there are only eight owners though not all of the live here. As a matter of fact, most of the flats are rented. She does work for the benefit of everyone and I'm sure she enjoys the power it gives her even if she complains all the time. However, I don't think anyone should have to spend so much of their time doing things which are never really appreciated by others. I've been president twice and vice president twice since I've lived here and I say it's time others take their turn. In that case, I'm sure an administrator will be hired and that's part of my job.
ReplyDeleteYes, this is just a plain blue theme with a media player at the top, which is onlY for show. I find it surprising though that it's distorted in IE. The moral is not to use IE anyway.
