Goodbye Chicken Tuesday

Some friends and I have got together to wish a fond farewell to the Internet famous Chicken Tuesday. I was never one to participate in the event, but let me tell you I have a whole file full of chicken recipes from Chicken Marsala to Tarragon Chicken, Chicken Salads and somewhere in a blog I did an Angry Chicken.

This was a good excuse to gather up some of my not really feathered bibelots and dust them off. The big mother hen with chicks under her at the back on the left was my grandmother's. My Portuguese roosters are pointing to the door as they should.

Tomorrow is a holiday, and I know it sounds silly but I don't know which holiday it is. I don't think it's usually a holiday - probably it's in place of another one that fell on a Sunday. I plan on making a curry on Chicken Tuesday and hope I'm permitted to do so.

P.S. I like the term bibelots. It sounds more sophisticated than plain old dust collectors.

  2. You have some lovely friends there Brenda. I like the name bibelots too, although I would never have known what it was, unless you had said. lol
And I had never heard that they were suppose to face the door before. Cool.
Hope you have a great last Happy Chicken Tuesday my friend.

  3. To bring good luck, the Portuguese cocks should face an exit or so they say. For example, the black one with the red hearts is from Portugal. I have more friends like these, but they didn't pose. lol

  5. Well goes to show what I know, had no clue bout chicken Tuesday lol. I love your collection of bibelots, I agree with you on the term. I think I'll start using it and watch people scratch their heads. I have some nice rooster bibelots and my Mom had many too. Don't know what it is bout roosters.

Whatever holiday it is, hope it's a good one for you. Enjoy!

Oh wow brenda! I just noticed that I have an identical to one in your picture! Actually I have 2 of the same, one is larger. I took them from Mom's just knowing that she probably bought them on a European vacation. Now I know!! I'm so excited!
It's the 2nd from the left in the picture, mostly white with a bright red top (whatever that's called). She had a tall one about a foot high at least and a smaller version, maybe 8 inches. They are now in my kitchen. What is the significance do you know? Should these be facing the door? I will turn them immediately.
What a coincidence, I'm so pleased to know where she got them.
