April Into May

April has come to an end and left us something to remember her by. We haven't had a whole lot of rain these past couple of weeks, and for some crops it's already too late as this has been the driest season for quite some time. I remember one drought year in particular when I got really bad gastroenteritis from drinking the water and was off work for 3 days. I know most people who travel, especially to other countries, are careful about drinking the water, but I can vouch for the water in Madrid and say it's usually good and safe. Anyway, on Friday evening it was raining enough so that lots of puddles formed in the streets, and, just like in the movies, along came a car and I got splashed. The bottoms of my jeans got a bit wet but my shoes and socks got soaked. It wouldn't have mattered so much except that I had an extra class on Friday evening. Fortunately I'd told the student I might arrive a bit late so was able to return home and change my shoes. There's nothing more uncomfortable than sitting around with cold feet even though the heating is still on in most places.

Tuesday and Wednesday are holidays for us - May Day or Labour Day and Wednesday is only for Madrid. Some people, like students, also have tomorrow off so they have a nice long break. I'll be putting up some more photos hopefully of Lilly and her baby sister. My sister told me that their puppy (the one whose photo I put up last week) had parvovirus, poor baby. The vet showed Leslie how to inject him. As I said if anyone can pull him through, it's Leslie. She's doctored and saved other animals. I just got a message from her saying he's eating and drinking. That's a great sign, but prayers are never amiss.

It's been a while since I shared a secret from Post Secret. This one made me laugh. Hope you think it's funny too. I'll never buy (or use) brown wash cloths though! Have a good week all.

  2. Poor puppy, either type of parvovirus is very serious in animals. So glad to hear that it was caught in time for treatment.

In Maryland our weather has been about the same as yours, perhaps we've had a bit more rain.

I can not forget one rain experience. A long time ago, when I took a train to Washington to go to work and walked from the station to my building. One day in late winter, I wore a 100% wool suit with no need for an overcoat. During my walk, there was an unexpected rain storm. I spent the entire day at work in a wet wool suit, smelling like a sheep. There were no stores close by and no train home until 5:PM that night. That was the last wool product that I have ever owned.

  3. I can't believe how fast the time goes! I'm glad puppy is doing better. He is a cutie! Sorry you got soaked by a car running the puddles. Frustrating, for sure, but at least you were able to rush home and change. I'll look forward to more Lilly and puppy photos! Enjoy your long holiday weekend!

  4. Good morning brenda I see you got my lemon post ,,and it gave you a smile lol
I'm lol at the brown wash clothes thing omg!~never have I ever thought of that
now I do take darker ones with me when I go to a hotel
to stay as they always ave these white ones, and I don't like getting makeup on them
(just being thoughtful I guess)but not only to I take then home with me I never use them anywhere
but on my face ..makeup removers just don't do it for me I never feel quite clean
as a good face wash and then put lotion on for bed:

Your week sound interesting...some times I wish I was still working kind of miss those get up
and have somewhere to go to make a difference but I certainly did my time:
Now I make my grand kids happy as they need all our love:

the siggy is a snag -not mine ...I love it"
