Why did I have extra free time? Two reasons. One, Tuesday was a holiday for Madrid, and, two, some of us were unable to log onto multiply for more than a day, so some of us had to spend more time on places like facebook, farcebook, or facebooger - whatever you wish to call it. BTW, although this has nothing to do with what happened on multiply on Thursday, there are some PM's being sent out with a fake video and a message saying that you look familiar (of course, I do! Lots of people recognise that my favourite headshot/avatar is a bird of paradise). The ultimate goal of these messages is to trick the recipient into downloading something he/she really doesn't want. Be careful! As we say in Spanish 'he who warns is not a traitor'. I've had lots of experiences with meeting people I know everywhere - lots of them former students like the policeman who stamped my passport in the summer. I even wrote a blog about how small the world is. However, on the internet I try to use precaution, because it is the great unknown. I detest forwards for various reasons, one of which is the sender most usually doesn't bother to hide all the 100's of addresses he's sending to. I only have one friend who does and I open his.
The only exciting, and possibly irritating, thing here this week has been the filming of yet another film in my neighbourhood. Rumour has it that Bruce Willis is in it. The only thing I can say for sure is there were an awfully lot of cinema vans around taking up precious parking spaces and a big crane in the Bullring Square. I just remembered that there was a demonstration of motorcyclists that came through yesterday protesting against the guardrails on the roads, which may provide extra protection for motorists but not for cyclists. One case I remember in which a motorcyclist's arm was sliced off. The promise has been made to modify the guardrails, but I assume nothing has been done so far.
No holiday this week for us. Hope it's a good one for everyone.
Hi Brenda, Yes the time is flying by heads up I got that video and just reported the user. what a jerk. I was dumb enough to try n open and said i needed a codec which then then tried to unload malware . Virus software quickly caught it and vaulted it. I wouldn't have opened it but I thought it was from facebooger childhood sweet heart from 40 years ago who is doing his best to drive me crazy. Ohhh I know I been spending way to much time over there but all the alerts come thru to my cell and it is easy to access by mobile which means when i have a moment at work i can just pop in. I wish we could get multiply to get a like button and a status. As soon as I get a larger memory card I will be able to do more on multiply by mobile. Gosh yes the time is flying by. this year is almost gone and ohhh yes this hillbilly only wears shoes when she leaves the house. haha old habits are hard to break. I wish u a great Sunday and rub Zara's tummy for me. That new baby born in your family over on fb is adorable I wanted to comment but couldn't. love and huggs
ReplyDeleteGlad I haven't received that PM. My site is limited to contacts only, so maybe I am somewhat protected. I also don't like forwards, Brenda, and only use BCC to send something out to more than one person. I don't forward those e-mails that tell you there will be bad luck if you don't send it immediately to 10 people, etc., etc., Glad you had a few extra days off. None for us last week, unless you work for the government. They had Veteran's Day off. At the Museum, we get the day after Thanksgiving, which is SO nice. A good long weekend and time to eat all the leftovers!
ReplyDeleteI had that PM in my inbox but I knew something wasn't right as how could they know me from my avatar, they didn't even check my home page which has my photo so I just deleted the PM without opening it and I'm glad I did. I hope you enjoyed your day off, here we worked on Veteran's Day. Enjoy the rest of your day and the upcoming week.
ReplyDeleteIt was the same with me, Kelly and, like I said, my avatar must look familiar to lots of people. Also, I don't post a lot of things that just anyone can see. Like you Terri, I don't do many posts for everyone.
ReplyDeleteOh, I am a giddy goat like Moss of the IT Crowd! My great-niece Sophia was born on Tuesday the day we had a holiday in Madrid.
