Summer's Slipping Away

This week has been nothing but routine - no frying pans on my head or fights in the street - at least not any that I've seen. One of the secrets on Post Secret stated that he/she didn't mind seeing the police roughing up people as long as it didn't happen to family or friends. I believe a lot of people are like that and violence excites them - reminds me of my little sister who came running to get a good view of any of us who were bleeding. However, she became hysterical when she saw one drop of her own blood.

I can't believe it's already the middle of August. Usually around this time the temperature starts dropping a bit to make it easier to sleep. It hasn't so far. I'm grateful that we in Madrid haven't had any heavy rainstorms like some of the surrounding towns. However hot it gets here, it's still bearable because, as I've said before, Madrid has a dry climate.

I've already mentioned Post Secret, but now I have to get my visitor number in - odd number once more: 258,492,933. I had a good laugh about the bathroom and famous people, and I can sympathise with the person who can't stand seeing time left on a microwave. It comes back to why people love seeing violence (some people anyway). People who do can't be bothered to cancel the time left on a microwave or leave a public toilet filthy because they have no respect for others or have never had to clean up after themselves or both.

Welcome back Sandra and Diana. I've missed you two a lot. Poor Diana has been really ill, so I hope she gets better soon. Deb has an important doctor's appointment tomorrow and I hope that goes well.

I'm making this short today. Have a good week all.

  1. Yes - summer is going by quickly, that is for sure. We are still hot and humid here in central Florida. Our temps won't drop until around October. We have hurricane season now, until December. Hot and humid. I can't stand seeing time left on a microwave either, and am always blipping it off at work when I walk by and see seconds left. Grrr! LOL

  2. I AM SO SCARCE I DIDN'T KNOW EITHER IS BACK. I WILL FIND SANDRA AND VISIT DIANA, AND THANKS FOR MENTIONING ME. THE TIME LEFT ON THE MICROWAVE REMINDS ME OF MY GRANDSON. WHEN HE WAS BARELY OLD ENOUGH TO WALK HE COULDN'T STAND A OPEN DOOR. CABINETS , CLOSETS OR ANYTHING HE WOULD SLM IT SHUT.

YES SUMMER IS SLIPPING AWAY ALL THIS PAST WEEK WE HAVE HAD TEMPS IN MID 70'S AND IT WAS 42 WHEN I GOT OFF THIS MORN. HAVE A GREAT WEEK. :)

  4. Summer is surely almost over. I guess this year I'll just take it as a turn of season. I usually say I'm glad to be through with the awful heat, but then I tend to stay sick a lot during the winter and dread the cold the older I get. I don''t mind my own blood, but don't like to see the blood of others. I'm quirky and "feel" the pain of others. If you break your leg, my leg is sure to ache. Weird misplaced empathetic whatever you would call it. In the small town I'm from, the main entertainment used to be following the fire truck to fires. They finally made a law to stop everyone from following along. Also, people throng to wrecks. Beats me why unless it really is a blood lust. Interesting blog, Brenday. Thanks.

  5. As hot and humid as it has been here in Houston, I won't mind this season slipping away. Of course with things just getting stirred up in the tropics, not sure the next season will be much better. LOL I have missed you so terribly Brenda. I haven't even been on my computer since before the 4th of July! So much to catch up with. Hope you have been well, being sick really sucks! LOL I am going to have to take it easy for awhile still, but will be around to catch up on whatever you have shared. Funny, you know I love Post Secret, and I haven't even thought about it for weeks. Something to look forward to again. (((HUGS))) Have a good week my friend.

  6. Do you know that I was thinking about the same this morning when I came to work; but I was being happy that I'll be back in service and back to the routine. I'm a person who needs routine because otherwise I get bored. My mother often moans that I cannot just sit down and take it easy. Well, I have my own ways, but there has to be something for me to do all the time or I get bored; sometimes I can just lay myself in bed and read and take it easy but I'm planning all the time what I'm doing... it's the organized part of me, lol! And I was thinking... it's the mid August and we're heading to fall... the time has really gone by fast and the summer is reaching its end... how confusing is that! Two weeks ago I got the keys to my own place... was it two weeks ago?! On one hand I feel it was yesterday but on the other hand I feel it was years ago. It's funny how different it feels when it just depends on the aspect you're looking it at.

  7. LOL. Just re-read this and realised I'd left out part of a sentence. So much for previewing what I've written.

  8. Okay, I must have missed the frying pan incident. It sounds more like something from one of my blogs! I got an email recently from Post Secret. Seems they are on tour here in the states promoting a new book most likely.
Today we are experiencing the hottest day so far. Lately the humidity has set in but we can't complain - it's supposed to lol. I can't believe that it's mid August already myself.

I didn't know about Diana. I need to catch up. Deb too? I knew that her knee was an issue, so catching up is due there too.

How is your friend? Hope you had a good week hun and a better weekend!
    Hugs
