I Can't Believe

I haven't even at least posted my Post Secret experiences for the past couple of weeks.  I think the last time I composed a blog the new secrets hadn't come out.  I have copied down my visitor number for them, but don't think I'll bother including them here.  What I am including is this secret that made me laugh and not because I've never lost a shoe.  LOL.  No, it just reminded me of a former colleague who came to work one afternoon (no less) with two different shoes on.  One was a boot and one was a shoe; one had a heel and the other one didn't; one was black and the other one was brown.  I'm not joking, and while I'm not always the most observant person, I sure noticed this!  Why didn't she?  The only thing she noticed was that she was walking funny.  Doh!  I find it difficult to believe she didn't get any strange looks before she got to work, and, who knows, maybe some comments.  Oh well, at least she showed up.  Anyway most women have more than one pair of shoes, so I find the excuse of not finding the mate a pretty lame excuse.  At the same time, there'll probably be lamer ones.  Anyway, I was visitor 246,909,315 - the third odd number in a row.

Luckily, my classes are finishing soon and, so far, I don't have anything lined up for July.  This is not to say that I don't have any unexpected work, because I do.  One of the neighbours, who's also the president of the building and never satisfied with anyone's work or efforts and who can't find an administrator who lives up to her standards, has her foot in a cast up to her knee and will have the cast on for the next 15-20 days. Between her next-door neighbour and myself, we're doing her shopping for her, which I don't mind.  I know I've been in the situation of having to rely on others.  She knows not to complain about what I buy either.  I haven't been up to see her today.  I should think her son and family would come round to see if she needs anything.  If she needs anything from me, she has a telephone.  On the funny side, she's suggested that we (she and I) go look for a simple mobile phone that she can use.  If you don't know the story about the phone she blocked and almost threw across the room, let me say the name of the phone was 'Simply', which is meant for people who know nothing of the new technology.  I suggested she discuss this with her son.  I don't want to hear more fussing than is necessary.

On the subject of weather, we've had one beautiful week with being able to sleep at night except when there's something going on at the bullring.  There was a concert there on Friday night with very, very few young fans I would imagine.  I do know that the music wasn't as loud as it is when there's a rock group there.  As a matter of fact, my dog wasn't bothered at all when we went out.

It's been a sad week.  In a way, I feel bad for Farah Fawsett's family because Michael Jackson's death has so shocked and become the most talked about and written about recent event.  Then again, perhaps this is what Farah's family would prefer.  Hope that they both find peace at last.
Have a good week all.

  3. LOL I haven't been to Post Secrets yet. I'll probably go and water the garden first. Just sat down at the computer with a glass of cold green tea. I like the shoe secret. How funny one of your co-workers did show up with mismatched shoes. Was she a blonde? ~giggles~
Glad to hear school is about out for you. Hope you do something fun, and not just cater to your neighbor. lol It does seem as though her family would be the ones helping her out now. Guess you're just lucky, huh?

  5. I haven't done the shoe thing, but I have gone to work wearing one blue and one black sock! Of course, with slack on, it was pretty easy to hide! Glad your weather has been so good! I agree about Michael's death pushing Farrah's down the ladder some. I too hope they are both at peace. Thanks for catching us up with your news!

  6. I lose things too, Loretta. At this very moment I've put my bank books in a 'safe' place and haven't found the place yet. Reminds meof my brother Roger burying his money in a jar and forgetting where he buried it. I still wonder if anyone ever found the money. I'm usually very orderly and put things back in their place, but have no idea what I did with the bank books. They're turn up I guess.
No, Diana. My colleague was a redhead with blonde ideas I suppose.
And Deb, sounds like you were at least wearing the same type of shoes. Well, I guess they could be different styles. I still can't help but think that I would notice if I'm wearing one flat shoe and a high-heeled one. LOL.
I don't think there's much difference between a blue sock if it's navy blue and a black sock, Terri. That's one thing my brother does right. He only wears black ones (or so he thinks).
My only sin is putting my underwear on wrong-side out! I'm looking forward to the holidays too!

  7. I've heard of phones made for people who really don't know anything about phones. It always amazes me, even if it's natural that no one could know everything about everything, that someone wouldn't really be able to use a cell phone. Sometimes I'm even annoyed when Tuula doesn't seem to get the most simple thing about computers, but I should always remember that there are things where I'm good at and which I'd know nothing about.
It was such a sad news about Michael... even if it's been a few days by now, it's still hard to believe he has passed away. Somehow, I still think, "No, not him, he can't die." But well, we all are born. Then we live, and we all die. I uncerstand what you're saying about Farah Fawsett. There was something similar in our papers when the news about Michael came out. The news websites had five to ten big articles about him, his life, the fans, what had happened, and whatever... and then, after all the articles, there was some article like, "A train crash has killed six people in Spain," and all the articles about Michael made any of the rest of the news feel totally meaningless, even if they are awful news too. Anyone dying or any accidents... they are all awful news, but it's amazing that some news just pop up and push everything else further for a while.
