Description:
This recipe comes from a microwave cookbook that my ex sister-in-law gave me many years ago. She doesn't know what she was giving up - the cookbook I mean. I haven't tried making brownies in the microwave, but I've made lots of cakes. Most of the recipes can be made conventionally. As a matter of fact this, minus the nuts, is the recipe that I use when I make brownies, which I'm famous for.
Ingredients:
2 eggs
1 cup sugar
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 cup butter, melted
3/4 cup unsifted all-purpose flour
1/2 cup cocoa
1 cup chopped nuts
Directions:
POWER LEVEL: High
MICROWAVE TIME: 6 to 8 minutes, total
In a small bowl at medium speed on mixer, beat together eggs, sugar, salt and vanilla, about one minute until light.
Add melted butter, continue beating until thoroughly blended.
Mix in flour and cocoa at low speed.
Stir in nuts. Spread evenly in 8-in. square dish.
Microwave at high 6 to 7 minutes. When done, top looks dry and will spring back when lightly touched. Cut when cold.
P.S. The brownies in the photo are from Christmas.
ReplyDeleteThanks for posting these Brenda. I am so looking forward to trying them. If they turn out well, I won't have to keep my oven going for the next few days baking them.
ReplyDeleteBTW, for my Ten Tuesday blog, it's 10 different brownie recipes. I have made a few of them, others were going to be tried this week, but if your recipe works, I won't. lol It is so hot with the oven going all the time. I do love that grandkid!
Isn't it easy to cook these days?! I wonder why there are so many young people who hardly know how to slice loaf!
ReplyDeleteMy mother laughed with me once when we bought "powder" and mixed it to a particular amount of water. Then we added it to a cooking tin and, puff, after 20 minutes in an owen there was a delicious chocolate pie!
But back to the business, this looks rather delicious. And I assure you that when I move to my own place a microwave oven is one of the first purchases I'll make to my kitchen.
Thanks Brenda definately one to try!!
ReplyDeleteWhat oven temp, and for how long?
ReplyDeleteI'd say about 325ºF - not hot although we use centigrade. I usually set my convection oven to about 170º C. I think convection ovens bake things quicker. Time: I'd say between 25 and 30 minutes. They don't come out of the pan well if they're still sticky.
ReplyDeleteAll right, thanks!
