Description:
Instead of putting on the heating yesterday, I decided to do some baking. Besides I had some overly-ripe bananas. I tried to convert this recipe to the metric system for those of us who use it.
Ingredients:
1/2 cup butter or margarine (100 g)
3/4 cup sugar (175 g)
3 mashed bananas, or 4 if they are small
2 eggs
1 1/2 cups flour (350 g)
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
3/4 cup walnuts, chopped (100 g or less. I usually put about half that)
Directions:
Preheat oven to 300º F ( I preheat my oven to 160º C)
Cream butter and sugar. Add bananas, eggs and dry ingredients. Mix well. Fold in nuts. Pour into a greased and lightly-floured loaf pan. Bake for 1 hour to 1 1/4 hour.
I cut into slices with an electric knife while the loaf is still warm. If you use a normal knife, I suggest a serrated one.
I love baking when we have cooler weather. Was it hard for you to get use to the metric system when you moved out of the country? At one time, years ago, I thought the US was going to go to the metric measures. Good thing we didn't, as I was having a hard time figuring it out. lol
ReplyDeleteYour banana bread looks scrumptious Brenda. It's good with pecans too.
I can still use the old system in cooking because I have a measuring cup. The metric system is really easy and is used all over Europe.
ReplyDeleteOh yes, yummy! You mentioned this before and I was thinking about it yesterday evening when you might post the recipe. It'd be really nice to try this out.
